Do you know students interested in the Natural Sciences? Would you like to expose them to activities that will provide them a  better understanding of research-related careers in different disciplines of the Natural Sciences ?

The University of Puerto Rico in Ponce RISE Program (UPR-PRISE) invites you to identify academically accomplished students enrolled in tenth (10th) or eleventh (11th) grade with a genuine interest in Natural Sciences to the Third 1-day Congress: “Welcoming: Future Scientists”. This activity is held at the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce on late March, every year.

The  objectives of the congress are:

  • Advise high school students about the opportunities that the Natural Sciences  disciplines offer;
  • Introduce them to research techniques in a laboratory environment;
  • Encourage them to consider pursuing  graduate studies in disciplines within Natural Sciences.

The activities will include: careers-oriented seminars, vendors exhibitions and hands-on workshops in molecular biology, microscopy, chemistry, physics, and environmental sciences, among others. In addition, the participants  will  have the opportunity to interact with successful college students, obtain advise from them, win Prizes, and receive a Certificate of  Participation.
